Name: Luceo 80 Shilling Scottish Ale
6% alc./vol.
Origin: “Luceo Non Uro” is Latin which translates to “I Shine, Not Burn”, the McKenzie Clan motto.
Ingredients: 2-Row Barley, Munich, Crystal, Roasted Barley, Victory, Chocolate Malt; Fuggles Hops; Scottish Ale Yeast.
Description: A Scottish brown ale with toasty, nutty notes of caramel and malt. Historically in Scotland, brewers were taxed on the volume of the grain in their mash tuns, so the amount of tax paid generally reflected the ABV of the beer (ie: 60 shilling is often around 4%, 80 shilling is 6%, 120 shilling is more like a Wee Heavy, at around 9%, and so on).
